Official news on the new state of the art Newcastle United training ground is still awaited.

Coming up to four years since the takeover of the club and this was reported at the time to be a priority for the Newcastle United owners, after buying out Mike Ashley.

However, despite speculation in the early days post-takeover that a site for the new Newcastle United training ground was set to be announced, nothing came of it.

Instead, improvements have been made to the current training ground, the state of which was a joke under Mike Ashley, compared to other Premier League clubs.

Earlier this year, yet again an announcement on a location for a brand new complex was supposed to happen, only for the club to say that once again this had been put back. At that point, the Newcastle United owners saying that in the meantime further money will be spent on more improvements on the current site.

Now on Thursday (2 October 2025), an exclusive from The Mail has made public what the favoured site is for the eventual state of the art Newcastle United training ground.

They say their club sources have revealed that after a visit to the site by a Newcastle United delegation, land at Seaton Burn has now been identified as the favoured site.

It is around eight mikes north of the city centre and has good transport links, a meeting point of the A1 and A19.

The Mail say that those transport links are of special importance when it comes to academy players and their families, with the location well served by roads and buses.

The report adds that; ‘The plan is to build a training ground that is the envy of the Premier League and helps the club attract and develop the world’s best players…the plans will likely include indoor and outdoor pitches, a mini stadium, accommodation options, a media suite, cinema room for presentations and spa-like facilities.

The newspaper stating that whilst nothing has been decided yet and other sites are still under consideration, if the Seaton Burn site can be progressed on and signed off, then an official announcement could be made before the end of 2025.
